Mike Kelly to Present on December 2nd

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no seminar this week (Friday, November 25th).

However, Mr. Mike Kelly will be the final presenter for this semester on Friday, December 2nd.  The title of his talk shall be forthcoming.

There is NO SEMINAR on the final Friday of the semester (December 9th).

Next Seminar is November 18th

We have no seminar on November 11th.  It is a University Holiday.

Next week, November 18th, two graduate students will present their work.

Ms. Nina Lenkey will present Utilizing Phage Display Technology to Identify a Peptide Ligand to Bind to Type 8 Capsular Polysaccharide of Staphylococcus aureus  (background reading:(http://link.springer.com/article/10.1023/A:1021215516430).

All Your Wanted to Know About Pineapples

Next Friday, 10/14, should be a truly interesting presentation by Dr. Jack Min.  Dr. Min is our resident bioinformatics expert and has been highly productive since coming to YSU.  He will be talking about his recent work with the pineapple genome - an unusual topic for sure, but one that should bring out your curiosity.  Background readings for this chat can be found on the schedule page of this blog.  However here is the link to Dr. Min's publication in Nature - a truly notable achievement!

This coming Friday, we have a very special guest speaker, Dr. Severine Van Slambrouck.  She is most willing to meet students and faculty while she is here.  Therefore, if you care to chat with her, please let me know ASAP.  [No background reading was suggested for this seminar.]

ALSO - Dean Steelant is providing pizza (cheese and pepperoni) as well as drinks for those attending the Seminar.  When you see our STEM Dean, give him a HUGE "Thank You!"

Next week on Friday, September 16th, our first seminar of the year is scheduled to be given by Dr. Lorimer.  As of today, she has not provided a title for her presentation.  Jamielynn, however, will initiate our discussion.  I look forward to reading your responses.
